Italian Archaeological School at Athens
The Italian Archaeological School at Athens was established in 1909. It is the only Italian archaeological institution abroad, under the direction of the Ministry of Culture and of the Ministry of University and Research. It carries out, promotes and supports research on Greece and the areas of Greek culture from Prehistory to the Byzantine Age, in interactions with the East, Africa, continental Europe and in the fields of Archaeology, History of Art, Topography, Architecture, Epigraphy, Numismatics, History, History of Religions, Literature and Philosophy. It is dedicated to the training of young scholars, to the support of research programs and to the publication of their results, as well as the enhancement of the Greek archaeological heritage.
