Programme description
The Phaistos disc, discovered by Luigi Pernier on 3 July 1908 and housed in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum (Crete), is the emblem of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens.

Admission to the Postgraduate Program in Archaeology is through a public competition with entrance exams.

Annually, the Italian Archaeological School at Athens announces four scholarships for a two-year advanced degree programme and offers a series of specialised courses. Three curricula have been activated:

1. Prehistory and Aegean Archaeology; 2. Archaeology of the Greek and Roman Mediterranean; 3. Archaeology of the Late Antique and Byzantine Mediterranean.

Training activities are monitored by a tutor and include lessons, seminars, site and museum visits, educational trips and the involvement of students in field research in Greece (Surveys and Excavations).
