Specialization course

The programme of study is based on topics of current academic and artistic interest as well as on a society-oriented understanding of art and culture in a global and cross-cultural perspective, an orientation that is particularly strong at the University of Applied Arts.

The course is made in cooperation, through an agreement, with the Centre for Conservation and Restoration La Venaria Reale which hosts all the activities, practical and theoretical, of the students. Its lecture halls, specialized laboratories and technical and scientific equipment are available to students. Gilders/goldplaters and decorators design and refine objects and surfaces with traditional and modern craft techniques. They apply gold plating of gold leaf to ornamental and everyday objects or cover them with layers of silver leaf, leaf copper or bronze powder. The Graduate School in Artistic Heritage offers courses in the fields of Art History, Museum Studies, Restoration and Diagnostics, Management and Enhancement of Artistic Heritage, Cultural Heritage Legislation. The Programme also requires a substantial amount of practical training in institutions devoted to conservation of Artistic Heritage.
