The diploma degree programme of Conservation prepares students for an academic conservator’s continually changing and expanding field of activity. As part of the programme, students learn about the basics of geology - rocks, their mechanical and chemical properties - and discover which of these properties are useful for stonemasonry. They learn about traditional and modern methods of working stone, acquire knowledge of its use, restoration, planning and computer design of stone products. They will learn both manual and mechanical processing

The course is made in cooperation, through an agreement, with the Centre for Conservation and Restoration La Venaria Reale which hosts all the activities, practical and theoretical, of the students. Gilders/goldplaters and decorators design and refine objects and surfaces with traditional and modern craft techniques. They apply gold plating of gold leaf to ornamental and everyday objects or cover them with layers of silver leaf, leaf copper or bronze powder. In addition, they repair and restore historical art and furnishings or parts of buildings (e.B. church altars, monuments, tower clocks)
